Tips for making your house fireproof/fire resistant

According to a report by Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India (ADSI), kept by the National Crime Records Bureau, in the five years between 2016 and 2020, fire-related accidents killed 35 people per day on average.

Amidst this,it becomes extremely necessary to protect your house from fire. Here area few tips to make your housefire-resistant.

    1. Use of Cement, Brick Walls While building houses, it is preferable to use Cement, and brick walls. Their elements are not flammable or combustible. Hence, protects your house from burning down. Cement and Bricks are comparatively cheaper.

    2. Install Fire alarms Fire alarms are a great tool that alerts in case of fire. These devices are set up on walls or roofs of houses and blow out if it detects smoke around their range. Installing and regularly checking the Fire Alarm is advisable.
    3. Use Lesser Wooden furniture Woods are highly flammable and catch up fire immediately. Keeping lesser wooden furniture can reduce the impact of fire. Minimal wooden furniture at home can stop the spread of fire.
    4. Metal framing in windows and doors Metal framing windows and doors can prevent the spread of fire. The most preferred metal is steel as it provides the best protection against fire. Steel can withstand higher temperatures for a longer period of time. Steel doors and windows generally have a minimum of 60 minutes of fire rating whereas woods only have 20 minutes fire rating.
    5. Fire-resistant wires and electric cables A majority of fires breaking out in India are due to electrical short circuits. This makes it extremely important to use fire-resistant wires and cables at home and workplaces. It is advisable to wire your house with electrical cables that have tested and qualified quality standards by a recognized institution.
